10 Of The Most Outrageous Dubai Police Cars

If I told you to imagine a police car, you’d probably imagine the generic police cars we’re used to in the United States. Well, throw that image away, because the Dubai Police Cars could not be further from generic!

Dubai has long been known as one of the flashiest, wealthiest cities in the world. Along with that, it has one of the world’s lowest crime rates. And the streets of Dubai are filled with all kinds of incredible supercars. With all these insanely fast cars lining the streets, what keeps Dubi’s elite from speeding around one of the world’s most busy tourist destinations?

Well, turns out the answer to that is to get impossibly fast police cars. In this situation, the phrase, “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” comes to mind. Though I normally wouldn’t agree with that sentiment, in this scenario, I make an exception. High-speed, exotic car owners may have previously been under the impression that they could outrun the police. But since the Dubai Police have the same high-speed, exotic cars, they are truly up to the chase.

Luxury Rare Dubai Police Cars: What’s The Point?

First and foremost, well, because they can! Dubai is a tourism hub, coming in as the fourth most-visited city in the world in 2018. With that, these exotic police cars are specifically used to patrol in tourist areas. What better way to contribute to the image of Dubai as one of the most interesting and wealthiest cities in the world.

Not only is it a means of boosting tourism, but as Major Sultan Al Marri of Dubai Police’s General Department of Transport & Rescue explained in an interview with CNN, “The role of the fleet is to break down barriers between the police and the public.” The novelty and notoriety of these supercars help build a positive image of Dubai’s police force.

If you are in Dubai one day, you may snap a picture with a Dubai police officer, and, unless you are committing a crime, they will typically be very happy to take the photo. Along with that, the Dubai police force promotes gender equality in the UAE, as many women police officers are drivers in the fleet. And, in 2019, the Dubai Police revealed a new fleet of electric cars in compliance with the UAE’s sustainability efforts. It seems that this fleet of cars represents everything that Dubai currently stands for and strives to be.

10 Of The Most Outrageous Dubai Police Cars

There are upwards of 40 exotic and/or unique cars and motorcycles utilized by Dubai’s police force. We’ve compiled a list of the 10 rarest, most outrageous cars in the fantastic fleet. Along with our list of 10, we also added a few “honorable mentions” at the end. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the most outrageous fleet of police cars on the planet!

Bugatti Veyron

We had to put the Veyron at the top of the list. The Dubai Police are not only driving in style with the Bugatti Veyron, but they are also breaking Guinness World Records. In April 2016, they officially held the Fastest Police Car In Service record. With a top speed of 253 mph, 1,00o-horsepower, and a 16-cylinder engine that allows the car to go from 0-to-60 in only 2.5 seconds, the Bugatti Veyron is the fastest police car in Dubai and in the world. This car definitely takes the term “high-speed chase” to a whole new level!

Aston Martin One-77

Dubai Police Car

Here, we have the Aston Martin One-77 — undoubtedly the rarest car of the entire Dubai police car fleet. Made available to the public in 2011, Aston Martin only manufactured 77 of these cars, hence the name One-77. With this kind of rarity, of course, the Dubai Police HAD to get one. The car costs nearly $1.8 million and is equipped with a 750-horsepower V12. It can go from 0-60 in less than 3.7 seconds and reach speeds up to 220 mph. When it was revealed, it was the fastest car Aston Martin had ever built. The body of the car is made of handcrafted aluminum, giving it an incredibly sleek look. The car looks even flashier with the iconic Dubai Police green-stripe.

Lamborghini Aventador

The Lamborghini Aventador was added to the Dubai Police car fleet in 2013. The Aventador can go from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph. At the time of purchase, it was the most expensive and fastest police car in the world. Word on the street is that the Dubai Police had this Aventador modified to go even faster than the stock ones. At the time of purchase, this beautiful car cost more than half a million dollars. Compared to the Aston Martin One-77, that’s … cheap! In 2013, CNN covered the Dubai Police getting a Lamborghini, and the interviewee said, “It’ll show everyone how classy Dubai is.” We gotta agree. If there were any doubts about the classiness of Dubai, this Lamborghini is pure reassurance.

Porsche 918 Spyder

In 2015, the Dubai Police added the Porsche 918 Spyder to the fleet. And, I think I speak for everyone when we say, what’s an impressive car fleet without a Porsche? This gleaming vehicle can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. And did I mention this is a hybrid hypercar? The 918 Spyder sports a V8 engine along with a pair of electric motors. In hybrid-electric mode, it can drive up to 22-miles. With a starting price of $895,000, we speculate the Dubai Police added all of the gizmos and gadgets to more than likely get this car’s price tag over 1 million dollars. There were fewer than 1,000 examples of this car made, making this car one of the rarest and most expensive of the fleet.

Ferrari FF

Only a week after the Dubai Police added the Lamborghini Aventador to their fleet, the Ferrari FF was introduced. At first glance, the front of this car fully looks like a Ferrari. But, the back half looks more like a station wagon. The extra space certainly makes this more usable as a legitimate police car. After all, it has four seats! Come to think of it, when the Dubai Police make an arrest while driving two-seaters, the criminal gets to ride shotgun, but not in the FF! The FF has a top speed of 208 mph and can go from 0-to-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. The price at the time of purchase in 2013 was a little over half a million. All that to say, 2013 was a really good year for the Dubai Police!

BMW i8

What you’re looking at here is the future of supercars. This car, of course, has speed. But, most importantly, it’s a hybrid sports car. Talking about killing two birds with one stone. Though a BMW may not feel as impressive as some of the other supercars on the list, the i8 can certainly keep up with its fellow comrades in the fleet. With a starting price of $135,925, this car is on the “cheaper” end for the Dubai Police. But, this car was perfect for their goal of being more environmentally conscious. The i8 can go from 0-to-60 mph in 4.4 seconds. It has a top speed of 155 mph. Along with that, with a fully charged battery back, the i8 has an all-electric, zero-emission range of 22-miles. All that to say, this BMW has that futuristic look and top technology that makes it a perfect fit for the Dubai Police.

Mercedes AMG GT 63S

Dubai Police Car Fleet

In December of 2019, the Dubai Police added the Mercedes AMG GT 63S, priced at nearly $200,000. This vehicle took their “top spot of the four-door model range” according to the Dubai Police HQ Instagram. It can reach 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and tops out at 195 mph. It’s equipped with a four-liter V8 engine. While this car is seemingly not as outrageous as the other ones, it is still an impressive combination of speed and functionality and deserves recognition as the wonderful four-door that it is!

Brabus B63S-700 6×6 Widestar

Dubai Police cars

Some call it the Brabus B63S-700 6×6 Widestar, others call it a G-Wagon on steroids. In 2013, the Dubai Police brought on this monstrosity of a super-truck, equipped with 700 horsepower and costing $780,000+. The body of the vehicle is based on the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. It’s able to go from 0-to-60 mph in 7.4 seconds and has a top speed of 100 mph. Not so bad for a massive truck, huh? While it is a custom off-roader, I think it is safe to assume this car does not see much off-road action. With that, it’s still quite a sight. And, if I were a criminal in Dubai, I sure would be scared of it.

McLaren MP4 12C

supercar

This car was also added, you guessed it, in 2013. What a year for the Dubai Police! Coming in at more than $200,000, the McLaren MP4 12C supercar is equipped with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. The British supercar comes with 616 horsepower and 445 ft.-lb. torque. This speed racer goes from 0-to-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. And the icing on the cake? It can do 200 mph.

Tesla Cybertruck

The Dubai Police tweeted about adding the Tesla Cybertruck to their fleet as soon as it becomes available. Although the expected release date isn’t until 2021, or later, this Tesla is just too futuristic and on-brand for Dubai not to add. The triple-motor range-topper will cost $69,000. And it is safe to say that the Dubai Police will be purchasing that high-end version. With that price tag, the Dubai police will probably be ordering a LOT of Tesla Cybertrucks. And let’s just say, I’m sure Elon Musk is happy about it.

Dubai Police Fleet Honorable Mentions:

Dubai Police Hoverbikes

Hoversurfs

Hoverbikes? If you are thinking that perhaps that word means a motorcycle that flies, you aren’t crazy. That’s right, the Dubai Police Force is currently testing out flying motorcycles. It seems, however, that they are nowhere near ready to use them.

Recently, a crash during a test drive was caught on video. Luckily, the test driver was not hurt. In the video, you can see that the bike is surrounded by spinning propellers — it looks like a death trap. And for that, I’d say, let’s just stick to motorcycles that stay on the road. Isn’t that dangerous enough? They have had some successful attempts at flying this contraption … just closer to the ground.

Hoversurf is a California-based company. Their hoverbike concept has a 12.3 kWh hybrid battery, allowing for a flying time in drone mode of up to 40 minutes. While the initial thought of a flying motorcycle sounds futuristic and incredible, the dangers of the Hoversurf seem endless. According to Dan Mihalascu, “The S3 2019 needs a recharge time of 2.5 hours for every 25 minutes of use, and the maximum flight speed is just 60 mph (96 km/h). Need more? The four carbon propellers are dangerously close to the rider but the Dubai Police says there will be safety rings around them for protection.”

So, maybe we aren’t rooting for flying motorcycles after all. Still really cool though, right?

Electric Dubai Police  Cars

electric police car

In 2017, the Dubai Police Department added the BMW i3 electric car to its fleet. While it doesn’t have that classic wow factor that the other supercars in the fleet have, it does have the great-for-your-environment factor that is needed to stay relevant and respectable, especially in a city like Dubai. The BMW i3 has a fully emission-free electric motor specifically made for city driving. The car itself is also made of renewable and recyclable material. It has a maximum 181 horsepower.

The United Arab Emirates energy minister, Suhail Al-Mazrouei, hopes to have electric cars make up 10% of all government vehicles in the next four years to reduce CO2 emissions. If you’re looking for an argument on if being environmentally conscious is in style, this is your sign. If the Dubai Police are taking part, there’s no question on the coolness.

W Motors Ghiath

All of the cars we’ve highlighted so far have been unarguably beautiful and sleek. Well, the W Motors Ghiath is a whole different monster. The Ghiath is neither sleek or beautiful — in fact this car just looks scary. Forget about it’s intimidating styling, because this vehicle is said to be the most advanced police car in the world. It’s equipped with onboard AI and facial recognition systems. There is a communication system that links directly to a Command Operations Room. Check out this promotional video for a closer look at the vehicle’s technologies coupled, of course, with music right out of an adventure flick.

Dubai Drone Taxi

Though the Dubai Police don’t plan to add drone taxis to their force, we couldn’t talk about all the insanity surrounding cars and technology in Dubai without mentioning the Dubai Drone Taxis. And no, we aren’t in a simulation. This is real. In a BBC article, Jane Wakefield reported, “The drone was designed by German firm Volocopter and the firm said it hopes to have the taxis up and running within five years.” Well, that was reported in 2017. So, in two years, the future will officially be here. Flying in the sky without a person driving? If it sounds outrageous, you’ll probably hear about it happening first in Dubai.
